Plano, TX – (December 14, 2010) – Sevis Systems, Inc., a global provider of mobile backhaul and signaling solutions, unveiled today its 3rd generation GSM bandwidth optimization platform .
The Sevis 6104 is a cost-effective backhaul solution designed to optimize GSM traffic on 4 E1/T1 links over a variety of WAN infrastructures such as IP, digital leased E1/T1 lines, Ethernet and satellite. It is specifically designed for rural areas in the developing world, where a lower concentration of subscribers limits mobile telephone coverage due to prohibitively expensive operational costs.
The Sevis 6104 employs field-proven GSM A.bis optimization algorithms that significantly reduce backhaul bandwidth. In particular, it decreases satellite bandwidth consumption and the operating costs of microwave and leased line networks. The result is a dramatic reduction in bandwidth requirements across the Radio Access Network (RAN) without degradation in voice quality or network reliability, while lowering both operating expenses (OpEx) and capital expenses (CapEx) at the same time.
“The 6104 opens up an exciting new market opportunity for wireless operators, who are now able to cost-effectively expand their networks into hard-to-reach communities,” said Steve Samaniego, President of Sevis Systems. “We are extremely pleased to help operators provide reliable mobile services to hundreds of millions of people for the very first time.”
The Sevis 6104 boasts a rugged design that is ideal for harsh environmental conditions in rural areas and meets the requirements for longevity and high reliability in emerging markets where national infrastructure is limited. “This is a purpose-built platform,” said Rick Thompson, Director of Hardware Engineering. “The 6104 is best-of-class in all aspects: size, power, processing and reliability.”
The 6104 is the latest addition to the Sevis 6000 Series of backhaul optimization solutions, which are deployed globally by major cellular operators and optimize traffic from numerous RAN vendors including Ericsson, Nokia-Siemens, Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent, Motorola, Nortel, and ZTE.
