Mobile-to-mobile SMS spam/fraud (i.e. SMS spamming, flooding, faking, spoofing and smishing) can cause substantial damage with respect to customer satisfaction, financial performance and network operations.
One approach to managing this problem is to deploy Point Code Based SMS anti-spam network elements within a carrier's SS7 core. Using this approach, all SMS traffic must first be routed to an anti-spam node before being sent to an SMSC. This Point Code Based approach increases the amount of SMS traffic in an operator's SS7 core and in some cases results in the need for an operator to deploy intelligent routing mechanisms and additional STP resources.
In contrast to a Point Code Based approach, Sevis' SMS Defense resides transparently without a point code on SS7 interconnect links and/or internal SMSC signaling links. With SMS Defense, you can deploy a solution that does not force you to reroute SMS messages within your SS7 core and that stops off-net SMS spam/fraud before it can ever reach your external facing Gateways or STPs.
